Since I love dead bugs, I couldn’t resist a little research into this lovely photo-find from ascendescend. Paris Hotel Boutique:  When Tutankhamun’s tomb was discovered, a strong Egyptian revival took place in Europe. Here is a stunning and very rare example of a brooch from the 1920s. This 9 carat gold scarab brooch has a delicate gold frame. Pink garnet eyes encase a real scarab shell. The back has a fine design with thin gold ropes of backwings held in the middle by a tiny gold flower.  A safety chain and pin attach the gold head securely to fabric. The bar has a c clasp. The gold loop on head enables you to wear it as pendant. Overall great condition. Tiny loss on the left corner of the body (as noted in the 4th photo), as well as some missing gold on the wing. This brooch is so strangely beautiful. At nearly 100 years old, it is a miracle it is still here.

tumblr support ?? August 9, 2011

I am wondering if anyone else is having this problem. (I am a Mac user, version 10.6.8, using both Safari 5.1 and Firefox 5.0.1 as my browsers. I started this blog in February 2011 and used it without any problems until July 2011.)  I have numerous problems now creating posts (all of which has been explained in numerous emails to tumblr):

SAVE AS DRAFT (using either photos or urls for pictures)

For the last month, I have been unable to save any posts to “Save as Draft.” When I reopen the saved draft it looks okay, but when I preview it, there is an odd assortment of photos from previous posts I have made. (If I try posting, the incorrect photos appear, not the ones that I see when I am in draft mode.)  I contacted tumblr support beginning in early July. The only response I have received is the same series of questions asking me what kind of browser I use, have I cleared my cache, etc. etc. I have responded on each occasion, and never get any further feedback until I inquire again, and then they ask me the same questions all over again. Week after week, I go through the same circle of emails with tumblr support.

PREVIEW

When working on a new post, if I hit Preview to view the post and they try to go back to my post to make a change or two, and then try to publish the post, I get this message: “uploading” and it never posts, so I have completely lost the post. This happens only with Safari. The Firefox post will actually save - however, when I go back to preview the post, the photo has reverted to a different photo(s) from a previous post(s) and so I have to start all over again.

It is worth noting that the photos change constantly once I have added them to Save as Draft, because I am working on other blog posts and posting them - without the ability to preview or save or queue. In other words, if I post a few things without saving or previewing, then go back to my Drafts - there are all new photos in anything that was saved as a Draft, and they are all photos of items that have just appeared in recent posts.

ADD TO QUEUE

I am unable to place any posts in “Queue” or in “Publish on…” because the photos get replaced in the Queue by other photos I have recently posted. 

Since I am trying to use this as my business blog, and I chose tumblr because of its reputation for ease of use and support, I am hugely disappointed that I cannot get a response to my inquiries. I have searched the internet for tumblr support, but I cannot find anything out there that answers this problem.

So I am hoping that someone out there in tumblr world or any of my Twitter followers can provide me with some guidance, since I have yet to hear back from Seth, Renee, Thomas, Beth, and all my other friends at tumblr with whom I have corresponded on this issue since July 9, 2011.

However, I would like to thank Jonathan Moore at Stylehatch (my template for this blog) who very graciously has answered each and every one of my questions to the best of his ability about these issues. His team has been phenomenal since I started using his template on tumblr. Thanks Jonathan!!!!

And no, I don’t dare try saving this post as a Draft to work on later….and if you have read this far, and have been able to understand my explanation on any of this, thank you SO much for your valuable time. ~Nancy
