Photographer Nick Nichols and the National Geographic built a robotic camera to capture images of this 1600-year-old California Redwood tree (with a crown over 100 feet wide). They stitched 84 photographs together, working on the project more than two years, in order to present this final photograph evidencing the majesty of our nation’s most beautiful trees: the California Redwoods. The video shows how they created the photograph.
