Gertrude Jekyll and the Country House Garden, From the archives of Country Life, by Judith B. Tankard (May 2011).
A devoted scholar to art and design, Gertrude Jekyll remains one of the most revered members of the Arts and Crafts Movement from the 19th Century because she was able to illustrate the relationship between garden design and architecture, as demonstrated by the hundreds of gardens she created around the world.
To celebrate Jekyll’s talents and showcase her gardens, a new book has been released (and this green-fingered garden designer can hardly wait for her copy to arrive by post). These photographs remind me of Monet’s impressionist paintings from Giverny and Vetheuil.
